Buying electronic cigarettes in Cyprus

today an other subject in out blog.

I am a smoker. Yeah, I know. Unhealthy and so on. But tell it a smoker, he will maybe not listen or he will “Yeah, I know” Like me. I know all this bad things about smoking and even I can’t stop it. I wanna stop it… but I can’t, to be honest.

Now, a few weeks ago, I’ve heared about electronic cigarettes. I saw a webpage which was selling it and providing some informations about it. I’ve read it very intensive, because I don’t believe in sucha things … like nicotin chewing gum or this inhaler or all the other stuff.
But this electronic cigarette sounds really good and plausible. So, I spend all the day to google about it and read a lot. And at the end I’ve descided to buy a electronic cigarette and try it.

But first let me tell you what I’ve read about it. First of all… it looks very similar to a real cigarette. So that you have the feeling that you really smoke a real one. Or at least it is easier to tell your smoker brain that you smoke actually a normal cigarette. To cheat yourself a bit If you need to do it, do it.

Then is the electronic cigarette much more healthy. Because it doesn’t burn tabac. It evaporate water with nicotin in it (and some aroma substances). But all the hundreds of chemicals, which come up while you smoke a normal cigarette, are not there anymore. You inhale only watervapour (not hot, don’t worry), nicotine and aroma. Thats it.
That makes the next advantages. You don’t bother the people around (probably non-smoker) anymore. Because your e-cigarette doesn’t stink! And you don’t stink anymore! No stinky clothes, no bad breath, no smelling flat/house anymore.

This is also the reason that you can smoke electronic cigarettes in non-smoking areas. Say good bye to the indoor-smoking bill.

And at the end, it is cheaper. I could figure out that it’s approx 50% cheaper then smoking normal cigarettes. Of course the aboriginal costs are much higher. The electronic cigarette costs approx. 70-100 Euro. But thats it. You just need it to buy one time. And then just the liquid to refill the cigarette or prefilled depots. I was calculating with that prefilled depots and the maker said that you can make approx.  500 drags before you need to refill or replace it. That is like one pakage of cigarettes. So lets say one depot = 1 pakage of cigarettes. 1 (prefilled) depot costs 1,50 Euro. My cigarettes costs (at the moment) 3,40 Euro. … You see the difference.

So, as I said. I decided to buy an electronic cigarette. So I was think where to buy it and startet running around. I’ve asked in every pharmacy and several shops in Limassol. Most of the salesman just looked like “You wanna buy what? “. So, after spending hours to find a shop which is selling this stuff, I was going back in the internet and found a good electronic cigarette shop with many equipment for this cigarettes. Most of the online shops are located in spain… for whatever reason. But I thought “Ok, what can happen” and ordered a “Starter Package” with one electronic cigarette, 5 prefilled depots and a case for 90 Euro.

I got the electronic cigarette just a few days ago (took 3 weeks for delivery) and need to try it a bit more or a detailed report.

But my first impression is really good. It is a good tool to reduce your smoking and I hope also to quit completely. I still smoke real cigarettes from time to time. But mostly I can use the electronic one. Onnly in the morning I need a real one. That is the most important one and need to be real. But if I feel during the day that I wanna smoke … then I just use the electronic one and it is quite ok.
So the next step is to replace the morning cigarette with the electronic one. And the final step is to quit completely. In a few weeks, when I don’t miss the real ones at all.
